How many sessions you are likely to need

We usually suggest a course of three to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Where the concern is acne scarring, the course tends to sit at the longer end. Your skin decides this rather than a package, and we set out a plan at the consultation instead of selling you a block of sessions up front.

What the appointment involves

We cleanse the skin and apply anaesthetic cream, which needs about 30 minutes to work. After that the skin is disinfected and the treatment begins. The device carries a single-use head, and we work across the area in small circular movements, then diagonally, horizontally and vertically, so the whole area is covered evenly. At the end we cleanse again and apply cold compresses.

Where it suits your skin, we can apply a prescribed serum beforehand so that it reaches a deeper level.

We keep more than one micro-needling system in the clinic, because they have different strengths, and we can set each one to work at a different depth within the skin. Which device we reach for, and what depth we choose, depends on the area and on what we are treating, so we match it to your skin rather than leaving it at a default.

The first two weeks afterwards
