These form when volume goes from the skin around the mouth, particularly above the smile. Despite the name, they are not only a smoker’s problem: repeated pursing and ordinary lip movement do it too. Most people notice them when lipstick starts bleeding into them. Filler placed into the lines themselves can soften how they look.

The corners of the mouth

Gravity and lost volume can pull the corners of the mouth down, which leaves you looking annoyed or sad when you are neither. It also tends to deepen the marionette lines below. A small amount of filler here can turn the corner back up, and we often treat it alongside the lip itself rather than on its own.

Who should not have this treatment

You may have swelling for 24-72 hours after lip filler. Some common injection-related reactions can occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve on their own within 2 to 10 days. Mild bruising or a slight blush might appear at the injection site immediately after treatment and may last for 2-10 days.
